Digital Life in Trieste

The City of Trieste and TIM have announced a new series of sessions, starting on November 25, for the School of Internet for Everyone, a free educational programme that allows individuals of all ages  to learn how to use digital applications and services that can simplify their everyday lives.

Residents of Trieste can enrol for free in the on-line “Improving Life through Digital Tools” course and learn more about how to use devices to access the Internet, as well as how to use the most widespread applications and e-payment services. Participants can choose between different time slots and become part of a virtual class of 120 TIM teachers and tutors who will guarantee inclusive learning.

Besides the lessons, participants will enjoy e-learning content, downloadable materials and links to focuses that will allow them to test their new skills through exercises, videos and games.

Participants who attend no less than 75% of the lessons will gain access to the final questionnaire that then unlocks the digital participation certificate. “Improving Life through Digital Tools” uses the Google Workspace Platform and is developed in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale that collaborates in Friuli Venezia Giulia with Ditedi.

IT security, home banking, e-commerce, use of the Electronic Health Register (FES), SPID and PagoPA, the advantages of the cloud for managing and archiving documents … are just a few of the topics that will be addressed by the lessons.

To date, over 60,000 participants have been trained, over 100,000 requests for support have been managed and awareness raising have generated over one million visualisations.

The initiative is part of Operation Digital Risorgimento, the vast alliance promoted by TIM with over 40 partners in the public, private and non-profit sectors. The alliance was formed in 2019 to bridge the digital-cultural gap, accelerate the take-up of digital skills by citizens, enterprises and public administrations and overcome the lag in the adoption of new technology compared to other European countries.
