An App for Migrants

Over a year has passed since we last addressed Project "I'm Great" at the Liceo Scientifico Gandini in Lodi [see news: “I’m Great!”], but now daily La Repubblica has published an article on the project in the Lab -Science in Class section.

On the right, there is the “Professor’s Story” by Drawing and Art History Professor Paolo Egidio Camera (61) who reports on the genesis of "Our App to Welcome Migrants."

The idea was conceived by Class 4A (Year 2015/16) for Project Meet No Neet promoted with Microsoft and developed by a group of eleven students coordinated by Prof. Paolo Egidio Camera: Maya Bagnato and Anna De Vizzi (1B), Marco Beghi, Angela Cerioli and Niccolò Orsi (4A), Martina Armellotti, Amina Ben Abbou, Maria Carla Horta Diaz, Federica Lodigiani (4B), Giuditta Danzo (5B) and Alexia Gasparro, long-time group coach.

"Receiving a prize from a digital call and promoted locally, I’m Great has been included as a best practice in a project managed by the City of Lodi for the FAMI 2017 Call. The school has also become a software house: having defined the needs of migrants, the students create a graphic layout, searched for data on the web, loaded a database and translated text into English, French, Spanish and Arabic. Davide Avanzi was the web architect. And the results have been fantastic. The app now has over 3800 contacts and a blog at: www.imgreattest1.wordpress.com".
