Discovering the Italian way to Steam with the Coding Girls
The delegation from theUniversity of Delaware (USA) is in Sorrento tomorrow, 23 January, for the last leg of the Italian tour to discover the Italian way to Steam with the Coding Girls activity programme. Trying their hand at the Game on! format are students from theSan Paolo polyspecialist institute in Sorrento. For logistical reasons, the various training sessions have been concentrated in a single day of joint work.
A four-hour training session is scheduled in the morning, led by Margherita Napolitano and Martina Girolamo. With the support of the American students, the teenagers mainly deepened the methodology of Design Thinking and the principles of Public Speaking. Afterwards, the teens organise themselves into small work groups to train with Scratch before the mini creative design marathon. At the end of this phase, the theme of the challenge, which concerns the design of a video game, is revealed.
The three hours of the afternoon are dedicated to the hackathon. At the end of the joint work, the groups present their projects to the public. A jury assesses the works based on creativity, narrative and alignment with the chosen theme. The event concludes with the announcement of the winning group, highlighting the commitment and creativity of the young people.
For the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Alberta Testa and Sofia Barbè Cornalba follow the day's activities.
