Young Talent at RomeCup

The challenge is to develop increasingly more connected and intelligent robots with advanced performance capabilities that are affordable and easy to use, exploiting the power of the web and inspired by the principles of the sharing economy, crowdfunding and inclusion.

Superconnected Robot is a challenge for start-uppers, students and researchers in the “Young Italian Talents of Robotics” hackathon promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Invitalia, and the Scuola superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa.

According to Paolo Dario, Professor of Biorobotics at the Bio-Robotics Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa, the true challenge is to grasp the opportunities provided by the web to makes robots ever more connected and that is why the challenge is entitled “Super Connected Robot.”

The coding marathon will take place during the 13th edition of RomeCup, the international event dedicated to robotics, innovation and the frontiers of technology. RomeCup, which is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale (FMD), will provide an immersive experience on the present and future of mankind, introducing the new generations to the study of science, new competences and the professional profiles in demand on the job market.

Participants will be required to present robotic solutions and services for citizens, paying special attention to the weakest categories. Each prototype idea is accompanied by a business idea for its launch on the market.

The 10 best ideas were selected to participate in the hackathon following an accurate pre-selection phase based on the following criteria: coherence with hackathon focus; market potential and competitive advantages; feasibility, sustainability and social impact of the solution; team competences in terms of implementing the presented solution.
