Today – Thursday, October 30 – the Global Junior Challenge and Smart & Heart Cities multi-event takes place from downtown Rome to the suburbs in three different locations.

The Istituto comprensivo Via dei Consoli in the Quadraro neighbourhood will host the finalist projects of the seventh edition of the Global Junior Challenge until 1 pm.

The Phyrtual Innovation Gym at the Rome Città Educativa is populated by social hackers at work on the International Hackathon for Civic and Social Innovation.

The Rome Campidoglio is hosting the Smart & Heart Cities International conference (10 am – 4 pm).

“The Fondazione Mondo Digitale, in collaboration with the City of Rome, Eurocities and the Forum PA, has organized the Smart&Heart Cities International Conference during a period in which cities around the globe are facing major challenges,” explains Alfonso Molina, Professor of Technology Strategy, University of Edinburgh and Scientific Director, Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

"By 2050, as indicated by the United Nations, two-thirds of the world population will live in cities and the number of devices connected to the Internet will overwhelm that of humans. Technology will play a fundamental role in the future of cities, but citizens will play an important role too in a smart and sustainable city that will have to exploit all the skills and sentiments of its residents.”
