Knowledge Volunteers are individuals of all ages that decided to dedicate a part of their time to the help elders become digitally literate, thereby fighting social exclusion, isolation and the digital divide to promote a more active lifestyle and a full participation in life, even through e-Gov tools. The Digital Volunteers 3.0 Competition that will be presented today at 3 pm (Sala Monumentale, Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Largo Chigi 19) launches an international network to extend and consolidate a presence already established in 13 Italian regions and 8 countries: Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK.
Students
- tutor the digital literacy courses that are held in the multimedia labs of their schools according to the various declinations of the Grandparents on the Internet Project;
- act as facilitators and digital animators of the Internet Corners in the elderly centres;
- regenerate computers donated by companies in the recycling labs and donate them to elderly centres;
- act as virtual animators for learning and innovating communities (www.phyrtual.org)
Teachers
- coordinate classroom activities and personalize learning modules to fit the competences and needs of the elderly;
- train the tutors in collaboration with FMD experts;
- specialize in didactics for the elderly.
Adults and Elderly
- act as peer tutors in elderly centres and volunteer associations.
