Travelling via Web at Termini

Following the success experienced at the Galleria Alberto Sordi and other downtown locations for Social Media Week, the Digital Angels have set out to conquer the Termini Railway Station. Tutors and grandparents were on hand to provide incoming and outgoing travellers with the opportunity to experiment an unusual trip to discover the web. And the ticket was free!

The travellers enjoyed the tutors’ help to learn about weather conditions at their destination point. Some, who were too late to buy a newspaper, were able to consult the news on-line. Others were able to send last minute e-mails or post on blogs and social networks.

However, there also were many passengers who had never experienced a virtual trip. It was an exciting experience. An elder was extremely impressed by Google Earth and the sight of the town he had left many years ago. Another lady called her son using Skype: “Hi! I’m calling you from the Termini station! You won’t believe this, but I’m with students from your old school, the Verne! They are fantastic! I’ve been given a complete web lesson!”

Luckily, not all travellers have time to stop: with such a full day, it’s a relief. We could have been overbooked on the web, too!
