  The Installations

In transit by Paolo Scoppola

Every day, thousands of people move about our planet’s surface. From people travelling to work to others starting a long trip, everyone leaves a trace – and crosses those of others. Every day, thousands of people experience being “in transit.” Travellers, tourists, commuters, immigrants or just citizens dealing with traffic, everyone is trying to reach a destination point and can ease or hinder others in doing so.

Imagine the surface of the planet as being covered by a thick network of connections created by the individuals in transit. This is what the large screen looks like when admired from a distance, but as soon as we move closer, we perceive our contours beyond the networks, as if we were in front of a mirror. Our shape, however, is altered. It resembles a pile of cubes, a sort or armour protecting our interior nature. And moving even closer, the cubes disappear, and our true figure appears. We have removed our protection and securities to challenge the issue first-hand.

A reinterpretation of the Ball video installation by Paolo Scoppola with images produce by the students that reflect interactivity and user experience through four scenarios: relations with technology, respect for the environment, relations with mental disease, appearance vs. presence.
