Three Months at Binario F

Vagone FMD. Da 01 a 100” concluded 2018 celebrating its first three months of activity at Binario F, the new Facebook facility dedicated to the development of digital competences, where the Fondazione Mondo Digitale held its educational programme from October to December.

The hub at the Rome “Termini” Railway Station, a symbol of meetings and exchanges, hosted the programme that three days a week provided activities for students with transversal school-work programmes, young women, over-60s, migrants and companies.

The entire community revolving around the programmed conceived to educate and raise the awareness of citizens of all ages on the issue of digital competences was involved in labs, courses, jam sessions and events on the use of new technology.

There were 8 types of meetings for a total of 27 lessons over 72 hours, involving 7 different types of beneficiaries12 coaches, 7 schools in Rome and its province, 551 people and the participation of the Centro SPRAR Enea, Associazione Anteas Roma, Bolognese start-up Dress Coders, FabLab Frosinone and the Naples Accademia delle Bell Arti.

Quality education is based on the intergenerational and intercultural learning model that guarantees a continuous exchange of strategic competences that are fundamental for accelerating the development of society and the digital transformation of the country.

Individuals with different histories, needs, expectations, ages and cultures worked together during the practical labs organised by “Share”, “ChangeMakers” and “IOW” to develop, under the supervision of the i-tutors, 4.0 solutions addressing daily needs and to improve the daily lives of foreigners and elders.

Login” and “Social4Stem” involved students in storytelling, robotics and coding to discover the professions of the future and stimulate the interest of young women in STEAM subjects. The “She Means Business” training programme (two dates) introduced 60 women to enterprise thanks to sector experts and young start-uppers who explained how to exploit the potential of digital tools to drive business. Moreover, two days were also dedicated to the digital transformation of companies: “Social Media Hub” with employees from MSD Italia, Wuerth and Weese. Last but not least, the new frontiers of wearable technology and new synergies for 2019 were explored through the “Happy Hours,” an original focus-based series of aperitifs.
