Laura, 22, on her digital service
For three months, eight digital civil service volunteers have begun their collaboration at the Fondazione Mondo Digitale with the organisation of ASSIFERO (Italian Association of Foundations and Philanthropic Agencies).
During the course of the year, the young volunteers will dedicate themselves to digital education and facilitation at the Rome “Città Educativa.” Activities include tutoring, local coordination, organizational management, and communication concerning initiatives and services. This is an inspiring and meaningful journey with a positive impact on all our initiatives. And it is a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth both for the volunteers and for the Fondazione Mondo Digitale staff, who will support them in their common work. In particular, the volunteers will be followed by Cecilia Stajano, Community Manager at the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, and Ilaria Graziano, Project Manager, as local project operators.
To help you discover their stories and aspirations, every week, we will publish an interview with volunteer who will share the experiences and motivations that drove them into this adventure, as well as their prospects for the future. The interviews will be conducted by Onelia Onorati.
Today, we introduce you to Laura Ubaldi, 22 anni, from the March, who has a musical dream in mind.
What made you decide to become a digital civil service volunteer and what do you expect?
I chose to become a digital civil service volunteer because I wanted to use my knowledge to help the community and others through innovation activities. I expect to improve my interpersonal skills and develop skills that can be useful for my future career.
What are you enjoying the most about collaborating with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale?
Working with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale has given me the opportunity to meet new people, improve my knowledge of the area in which I live, and actively participate in the complete creation of new projects. This experience allows me to put my skills to the test and integrate them with those of my tutor.
In your opinion, what impact can FMD have on individuals?
From my point of view, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale has a special and positive impact on people. In various projects, the objective of reducing inequality is achieved in an original manner. What shines through every initiative is the belief that by working together we can achieve great goals, undoubtedly bringing benefits to those who participate.
What do you think your contribution will be?
I believe that my contribution will be mainly on the human side. I want to help create a pleasant and functional working environment, as I find it rewarding to share experiences and face challenges together. Furthermore, I will dedicate myself to bringing an artistic and musical touch, as this is the area in which I have the greatest skills.
What skills and knowledge will you field in this adventure with FMD? What skills do you expect to develop through this digital volunteering experience?
I will use my creativity, my desire to learn, and my ideas. I hope to improve my organizational and teamwork skills.
What do you want to do when you “grow up”?
My future goal is to become a singer-songwriter and, at the same time, actively engage as an educator on social issues, organizing events and workshops.
