The first webinar organised during the coronavirus emergency for Project OpenSpace was held last Thursday, March 13. Under the supervision of Senior Coach Valentina Gelsomini, the teachers worked with Google’s CS First Platform to explore new custom-tailored methods for holding didactic activities through coding.
The school community has been very enthusiastic and over 60 teachers participated in the morning and afternoon sessions.
“Everyone had markedly different accents, but they all had same problems: some fell behind, while others could not find the control panel. It was a perfect opportunity for peer training (the same they encourage their students to enact) and a teacher from Bari successfully helped out a colleague from Milan,” explains Giovanna Cipolla on her blog, Percorsi con i bambini.
The coronavirus emergency is turning out be an opportunity for the transformation of schools, confirming how precious a resource technology is to improve the quality of didactic activities and continue to kindle the interest of students. Digital tools can become an integral part of the solution. It is now confirmed.

Percorsi con i bambini Blog | OpenSpace
OpenSpace – Spaces for Active Participation of the Educational Community, selected Con i Bambini as part of the Fund to contrast the educational poverty of minors (Bando Adolescenza) is a four-year project that aims to make communities more inclusive and responsible, promoting the educational and cultural growth and the empowerment of pre-adolescents and adolescents. The project is being held in suburban areas of Bari, Milan, Palermo and Reggio Calabria.
