Speak Up!

During yesterday’s press conference (September 2, 11:00 am, Sala Monumentale at Largo Chigi), Minister Quagliariello officially kicked off the final phase of the on-line consultation on constitutional reform: the public discussion. Moreover, the Speak Up! Video was presented.

The Minister also presented initial data on participation: “citizens of all ages, equally distributed from 18 to 68, have participated. Fourty-two percent of the participants has at least an upper secondary degree diploma, 50% a university degree or ore. Various professions are represented and include: employees (24%), students (11%), professional services (11%) and pensioners (9%).

Subsequently, project partners described the contribution of their networks. For the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Elisa Amorelli explained the work involved to bring the on-line consultation to the attention of elderly centres and the organization of courses to help the elderly participate in coordination with the MIUR. Minister Quagliarello described this as a “true intergenerational challenge.”

The conference also provided the opportunity to present another important initiative that will involve students and schools throughout Italy. The Day of Participation will be held together with MIUR on October 1, 2013. The FMD will help schools open up their doors to young and elder citizens to complete the questionnaire and find out about the 2013-2014 edition of Grandparents on the Internet.
