A Skin Issue

According to a DOXA Survey on the dark side of psoriasis, patients often feel disillusioned, misunderstood, overlooked and even depressed. Psoriasis affects 2.5 million people in Italy, 10% of which are affected in a medium to serious manner. Based on the needs revealed by the survey, the Italian Association of Psiorasis Patients of the Fondazione Corazza (APIAFCO) has developed a Charter of Priorities for psoriasis patients to indicate the 10 main points on which to work to insert the disease in the National Plan of Chronic Pathologies. The priorities include psychological support for improved quality of life and correct information on treatment so that patients may be more informed and understand the treatment they are undergoing.

"La pelle vuole sempre dire la sua" (along the lines of “Let’s Save Our Skin”) is the slogan used by the Italian Association of Psiorasis Patients of the Fondazione Corazza (APIAFCO) to underline the impact of psoriasis on quality of life. Today, experts from the association will meet with students at IIS Spallanzani in Tivoli. The educational session, organised as part of Project Factor J, will be held by Ludovica Doanati (APIAFCO), Cecilia Stajano (FMD) and Federica Boniolo.

Factor J, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale with Janssen Italia, is the first Italian school curriculum for educating students to develop emotional intelligence, respect and empathy towards individuals suffering from unease of disease. This is an important social operation to stimulate a change in mentality and culture in the new generations.
