The Fondazione Mondo Digitale has been awarded a Google Grant for Europe Code Week 2016 (Oct. 15-23). In collaboration with the Roma Semplice Councillorship, 800 students will be involved in coding labs and a hackathon to develop innovative ideas to promote the city of Rome through bureaucratic simplification and tourist promotion.

Project “Simple Future” brings students into touch with computer coding. Didactic labs for students aged 6-18 begin at the Maker Faire and continue every morning at the Fondazione Mondo Digitale’s Phyrtual Innovation Gym and include labs for young students with Ozobot and robotic activities, app development with main coding languages and Internet of Things.

Tomorrow - Tuesday, October 18 - 150 Roman high school students will participate in the “Simply Rome” Coding Marathon to develop innovative ideas to promote the city of Rome through bureaucratic simplification and tourist promotion.

The hackathon will be held at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym (Via del Quadraro 102), where, with the help of expert coaches and App Inventor, the teams of young programmers will work together to develop and design mobile applications to improve citizen life and make Rome a more innovative and inclusive city for all.

The hackathon will be opened by Roma Capitale Councillor Flavia Marzano.
