Last Saturday, free training sessions were held in the Corviale (IC Fratelli Cervi, Via Marino Mazzacurati) and Santa Maria della Pietà (Intersos Lab, Via della Stazione Ottavia) neighbourhoods with our trainer and storyteller Nicoletta Vulpetti. The workshop “Your story online” involved both budding entrepreneurs and experienced traders, helping them to develop a communication strategy that transforms their identity into a simple, authentic and memorable story. The initiative is part of the Roma Rigenera Impresa programme, promoted by the Department of Productive Activities, Equal Opportunities and Investment Attraction of Roma Capitale, in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, and funded by the Integrated Urban Plans (PNRR – Measure M5C2, Investment 2.2) [see the news item Your story online].

Nicoletta's story is evocative: 'On Saturday, I met Alessandro, who runs hand engraving workshops, which all begin with a greeting to Albrecht Durer, their patron saint; Annalisa, who writes about music that is good for everyone, from 0 to 100 years old and back again; Ashling, with an Irish mother and Roman disenchantment; Saida, whose name means happiness; Silvia, who works nights on the underground, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., and writes poetry. There was Luca, who knows actors, directors and film release years by heart, Erika, who is an infectious disease detective and a million other things... And at the end of this day, when I feel as deconstructed as Adrià's tortilla, I took home my dose of encounters with beautiful people, which is why I move around the world.

From Santa Maria della Pietà, in the XIV Municipality, Nina Spoitoru, from Moldova, told us about her dream. " I feel very close to the approach of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. I believe that the advice to always be yourself, from the photos you post to the content you offer, is fundamental. I graduated in biology in my country in 2006, but I chose the course to please my mother. Now that I can apply for a residence permit in Italy, I feel I can try my hand at visual art, which I feel is more my thing. I am still in the inspiration phase and that is why I am training. This path is opening up possibilities that I had not thought of before. Nina has already attended a photography course and has enrolled in the advanced module. She has already been hired for some professional shoots.

Valentina Bucciarelli works in public administration and would like to bring a breath of innovation to her life as well. "The meeting was very interesting because it focused on promoting oneself or one's brand through a story. It helped me understand how storytelling can intersect with marketing while maintaining authenticity, consistency and truthfulness. Personally, I am very interested in the topic of digitalisation and the use of AI, which is why I looked into the Foundation's courses. In addition, I have always studied linguistics, I have a degree in literature and a master's degree in public and institutional communication. I am convinced that AI is having a very strong impact and is changing the way we communicate in our world. In my life, I have been involved in social research on issues related to the labour market, and I enjoy studying how professions evolve. The exchange with younger people on Saturday was a great added value for me. I wanted to complete my training with the aim, as a civil servant, of participating in communities of people with whom I share common interests. I would like to make a concrete contribution to the communities'.

One of the participants in the meeting in Corviale, in Municipio XI, Maryna Fraint, is embarking on a new adventure. Ukrainian, she has been in Italy for 17 years. She was born in the former Soviet Union and has not yet been able to complete her application for citizenship because she is missing some documents. 'The training excited me! I found it essential because I am currently opening an online fashion on demand shop: I create T-shirts on request. I am studying how to do it and attending an online Ukrainian school. I also attended the Python course. On Saturday, I understood how to find my audience, what questions to ask myself, what stories to tell. I worked mainly at home, attended management courses for innovation, and from there the idea of opening my own business was born. I want to continue training and working for myself!"

The story is by Onelia Onorati, press office of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
