“Relations are what need the most care. Technical problems can be solved. The critical point that needs to be carefully balanced is the class as a whole.”

In a long and intense conversation with  Cecilia Stajano [@CStajano], the Head Mistress of the Liceo I. Newton in Rome, Cristina Costarelli, tells us about the less known aspects of distance learning: the availability of teachers, even the less digitally savvy, families and extraordinarily collaborative students.

“Our weak point is the difficulty of reaching the most critical situations: foreign students and families, students from families with financial issues. Distance learning still has some barriers that are insurmountable. There are a number of students who we have not been able to reach.” At the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, we are focusing on this issue, trying to understand how we can help schools.

“Everything will work out for the best,” repeats the Head Mistress who is also Deputy President of the National Association of School Administrators (ANP). “We are lucky to have the best job in the world. We have to face this situation with a smile and the belief that we can make it through. We must have a positive outlook.”

Her final precious words of advice are “we must be rational and able to accept our limits.”
