The event is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the Rome Chamber of Commerce and in collaboration with ANP (School Managers and Professionals Association) and Comau Robotics, ENEA, STMicroelectronics, Zucchetti Centro Sistemi and Media Direct. “La Scuola Possibile” is the official media partner.
On March 20-22, Rome hosted the event conferences, workshops, laboratories and competitions at the Città Educativa to introduce students and guests to the world of Robotics and discuss the opportunities this filed provides for employment, innovative didactics and social inclusion.
Europe has spelled it out clearly: the development of Robotics can create jobs, especially in view of the current growing condition of youth unemployment. Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the EU Commission for the Digital Agenda has declared that “a solid Robotics sector is fundamental for the future competitiveness of Europe. Expanding our Robotics industry means creating new jobs and a competitive industry.” It’s an opportunity for development that has been stressed by all RomeCup participants. The outlook provided by Robotics was one of the main issues debated at the event, during which robots served as an issue to reflect on the future; but also as a form of entertainment. The competition included amongst its referees Peter Van Lith, Chairman RoboCup Junior 2013.
Following the final competition rounds, on March 22, the winning teams were presented with awards in the Campidoglio Sala della Protomoteca:
