RomeCup 2024 Competitions

Registration deadline extended to February 15

Italian schools have until February 15 to register for the RomeCup 2024 competitions, organized by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale with Italian Tech and the GEDI Publishing Group, and promoted in collaboration with Tor Vergata University. There are two main new features this year: the SuperTeam Championship, held in collaboration with the RoboCup Junior for the first time in Italy, and the Robotic Arm Challenge for the development of collaborative robotic arms. As always, the awards ceremony for the traditional categories of the International City of Rome Trophy and the new competitions will be held on March 22nd at the Rome Campidoglio.

Registration is still underway for students in upper and lower secondary schools. The RomeCup 2024 competitions will be held on March 20-21 at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata,” while the final phases and the awards ceremony will be held on March 22 at the Rome Campidoglio. For the 17th edition, Italian schools will compete for the City of Rome International Robotics Trophy and in two other innovative competitions: the first Italian SuperTeam Championship, organised in collaboration with RoboCup Junior for the Rescue Line Category, and the Robotic Arm Challenge.

For the City of Rome Trophy, Italian schools working on robotics may participate by competing in one or more of the following competition categories: On Stage (Preliminary and Advanced), Explorer (Junior and Senior), Soccer (Open League and Light Weight), and Rescue (Line and Simulation). Following the 2023 pilot edition, the Robotic Arm Challenge Category will allow students to compare and enhance their technical-creative skills in an inclusive environment. Teams may participate independently in the single team challenge mode or in a contest challenge with a university. The contest was developed in collaboration with the Vercelli Avogadro School (Prof. Luca Oliva) and Gioia del Colle Canudo-Marone-Galilei School (Prof. Umberto Chimenti) in the Province of Bari.

The Superteam in the Rescue Line Category (rescue robots) becomes a real championship, designed to encourage collaboration and the exchange of knowledge between teams from different schools. Two teams from different schools, matched randomly will compete collaboratively, each with its own robot, in a field divided in half with various difficulties.

Participation is free.

To register school teams for the competitions, please complete the application form by February 15.
