IIS Leonardo Da Vinci, the Roman school directed by Irene de Angelis Curtis, held an unusual awards ceremony that involved the entire school community and local network in the presentation of over 30 merit-based, but not school-related, scholarships to students. The students who received awards were passionately involved in social innovation projects, ranging from the digital literacy of over-60s to the integration of migrants.
In particular, some of the scholarships were connected to projects involving the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, like Grandparents on the Internet, Co-Host, A Fab Lab at School and the International Global Junior Challenge Competition.
The idea of producing small 3D replacement parts for historical craftsmen in Rome’s first district is related to the “A Fab Lab at School” Project. This initiative also allowed the school to achieve the award to promote Rome’s best ideas: "ROMA Best Practice Award 2018".
