A Recipe for Research

As a young girl, her mother allowed her to experiment with cooking and helped her follow recipes. This was how Maricarmen Lecuna discovered her passion for experimentation and scientific research.

Mericarmen, who is Venezuelan, has been in Italy for three years and is a post-doctoral researcher at the Turin Polytechnic Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT). She likes to work in dynamic environments with multidisciplinary teams that are not afraid of sharing their knowledge and experience.

Today’s experiential video lesson with Mericarmen, a process engineer, addresses the many applications of metrology and particularly the sampling of reactive gas standards.

As part of Project Coding Girls in Turin, promoted with the support of the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, we have collected presentations by young women in the world of STEAM to interest young men and women in studying scientific subjects.

Thanks to the collaboration of Arianna Montorsi, Rector’s Coordinator for Gender Equality and Diversity at the Politecnico di Torino, many young women have been involved that will hold courses in schools during the new school year.
