Last Monday’s edition of La Repubblica (Oct. 11), dedicated two pages to the multidimensional phenomenon of educational poverty and the action of Project OpenSpace, a project coordinated by ActionAid and financed by Con i Bambini. The project includes a network of 27 partners – obviously there was not enough space to mention everyone in the article – including 12 schools, 4 public and local agencies, 9 third sector organisations, 1 university and 1 company.

The article by journalist Manuela Mimosa Ravasio addresses the project’s local activities through an interview with Luca Fanelli, Project Manager for the Lead Partner, as well as the experiences of various protagonists. Giorgia, 13 years old, describes the the video lab at the Bari Innovation Gym. Giovanni, instead, explains how the webinars on digital theses helped 8th grade students prepare for the final exam during the lockdown.

In the project, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale is responsible for designing, developing, organising and running four innovation gyms in hub schools in Milan, Bari, Calabria and Palermo. The innovation gyms are configured on the basis of the Phyrtual Innovation Gym opened in 2014 at the Rome “Città Educativa” on Via del Quadraro 102. The article mentions the innovation gyms various times, but never specifically associates them with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. Could non-profits experience phenomena that are well-known in the world of marketing? At times, products acquire such as strong identity that it is no longer necessary to refer to the brand … just think about the FIAT "500" car…

And could this happen in the field of social activities, too, if we perfect efficient intervention models that become a true “brand”?

Enjoy the article!
