“The Internet allows us to do things that were previously unimaginable. It shortens distances and multiplies opportunities. And I don’t want to waste even any.” Elisa Bova, who has a passion for fashion, participated in the Start Up Lab, the course for women organised by Job Digital Lab, to make her dream job come true and give concrete shape to Project Fashionableandeasy, because “we need to share ideas with and draw inspiration from people.”
With the help of Nicoletta Vulpetti, a true lover of identity stories, the second edition of Job Digital Lab, the educational programme developed with ING Italia, presents the stories of the protagonists of personal and community change.
My name is Elisa. I’m 25 and I’ve just moved to Milan from Rome because I’m looking for a job that suits me. I have a thousand passions and wish to experiment and understand which is right for me.
However, I’m sure about one thing. I want to work in fashion. Not on the catwalks, but behind the scenes. I would like to speak about fashion and present it as it really is to the widest audience possible through digital channels.
Roland Barthes said that “fashion is not the weaving of textiles, but of meanings.” And it’s true: clothes are means to create and manifest our identity and lifestyle. Clothes shouldn’t cover but represent us. I, for example, love colours. Every colour and tone transmit something different, a mood, an emotion.
And I knew nothing about fashion until I went to university. After attending an arts high school, I enrolled almost by chance in a Fashion Studies programme and fell in love with it. Then, I went to Barcelona with the Erasmus Programme to gain experience in the field, and it changed my life.
When I came back, I merged my passion for digital communications and social media with my love for photography, graphics and art. Then, together with my friend, Marta, we started “Fashionable and Easy,” a project that was born on Instagram to create the first fashion community in Rome and provide information and promote fashion, sustainability and related events in Rome.
I don’t know where I’m going or how I’ll get there, but the journey has begun.
Your dream job can become real. You just need to create it.
Above all, you must continue to learn. That is why I participated in the Start Up Lab. We can’t do everything on our own, we need to share ideas with and draw inspiration from people.
The Internet allows us to do things that were previously unimaginable. It shortens distances and multiplies opportunities. And I don’t want to waste even any.”
