Officina for All

The one who came from farthest away, calculating the distance in a straight line from Rome, is Alessandra (27) from Udine, but many others come from far, too, including Giuseppe (28) from Palermo and Jessica and Marco, respectively 22 and 25, from Turin. About twenty young men and women live in Rome and only have to face the daily traffic in the city. They will all meet today at the Officina – New Jobs Workshop and embark on the last training course before the summer break.

This week, 70 young men and women replied to the Call4Youth selecting the All4All track that will allow each of them to explore the all the labs: Fab Lab, Game Lab, Immersive Lab and Video Lab. Their profiles are very different: 45 per cent have a degree - ranging from Engineering to Pharmacy – and some even have Masters and PhD degrees. Nonetheless, next Friday, by the end of the course, each of them will have a richer and more competitive experience made up not only skills, but also of knowledge, competences and values.

The Officina – New Jobs Workshop is a project conceived by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Google to promote digital skills and implement professional training and orientation activities for 10,000 young men and women currently looking for a job. The initiative has been organised with the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the collaboration of the Ministry of Education, University and Research, the Regione Lazio and Roma Capitale.

The four labs include a range of learning and teaching procedures (lectures, stand-up, engagement, interactive, training, learn by doing) and a specific training course to improve self-learning skills. Moreover, the track also includes a “practical guide” to implement an individual job search project.
