In the Microsoft press release also IA4PA, soon available on AI Skills Navigator
Last Tuesday, 4 February, the Microsoft presented new initiatives and collaborations as part of the AI L.A.B. programme created to promote the responsible adoption of generative AI and support digital innovation in the country.
Among its long-standing collaborations, Microsoft mentions the one with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and announces the introduction of a new self-guided video course – IA4PA: l'intelligenza artificiale al servizio della Pubblica Amministrazione (Artificial Intelligence at the Service of Public Administration) – designed for PA employees with ‘medium AI exposure’, from central administrations to local authorities. Organised in thematic modules, with a total duration of about two and a half hours, the course helps the worker to understand the opportunities, limits and risks of artificial intelligence, explore AI projects already implemented in the Public Administration and learn about some generative artificial intelligence tools and their possible uses. The course can be accessed free of charge on the FMD Academy platform, from a smartphone, tablet or PC. Through a final test, the user can verify the knowledge acquired and obtain a micro-certification validated by the Roma Tre University to be included in their CV.
The initiative is part of the AI L.A.B. Ital.IA LAB pillar, a generative AI training programme developed in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, open to all workers, job seekers and students aged 16 and over in Italy. The project has also seen the creation of 26 hubs distributed throughout Italy, but with a particular concentration in Southern Italy and in the outskirts of large cities, where participants follow personalised and free training courses on the opportunities and benefits of generative AI. Currently, thanks to Ital.IA L.A.B., more than 130,000 people have been reached and over 9,600 students, workers, entrepreneurs and job seekers have been trained.
‘Over three million people who work in public administration now have a new tool available to them to update their skills in artificial intelligence, a technology that already involves about 85% of workers. We have created a flexible and practical learning path, enriched with concrete examples in key sectors, from healthcare to finance. This approach stimulates debate on ethical implications and promotes innovation that is increasingly service-oriented and close to citizens,’ commented Mirta Michilli, General Manager of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale ETS.
The video course ‘Non ci resta che imparare’ (We just have to learn) is already available on the AI Skills Navigator platform, which is the access point for all free Microsoft AI training that includes the possibility to assess one's skills in order to receive a personalised training plan and to select courses based on topic or professional role.
