A Needed App

Coding Girls: winners of the hackathon at the University of Salerno

One hundred and thirty-five students from six schools organized into 28 teams were the protagonists of the hackathon that just ended at the University of Salerno, a stage in the Coding Girls training program which is increasingly creating links and driving networking between schools and universities. The theme of the challenge was to design "The App that was needed and is now available."

As usual, the jury selected three winning projects that stood out for their creativity, inclusion and innovation:

MOST CREATIVE PROJECT

Recycling Bin by Team “The Serious Ones” - Galilei-Di Palo School, Salerno. Team members: Asia Lombardi, Michele Berezovskyy, Alessandra Piscopo, Daniele Viola, Flavio Iannone. An application for people to exchange recyclable materials. They can also create groups and reuse materials to create other products.

MOST INCLUSIVE PROJECT

Way Out by Team “Kindspot” - Publio Virgilio Marone School, Avellino. Team members: Chiara Forno, Francesca De Rosa, Chiara Maisto, Asia Nittolo, Giada Evangelista. An app to safeguard mental health by contacting local and on-line psychologists, blog anonymously, call emergency services. In addition, the app provides motivational phrases, advice...   

MOST INNOVATIVE PROJECT             

Ri Eco by Team “De Five” - Galiei-Di Palo School, Salerno. Team members: Federico Giuseppe, Valentina Pace, Sabina Celentano, Sarah Strefezza, Arianna Amato. The app aims to make recycling more functional and to help make people more aware of how to correctly recycle. The application divides waste into special, bulky, and recyclable waste. The app also provides a list of all the companies that recycle in your local area, which can be contacted for further information.

 

The three teams received an award, an Arduino kit and further training!
