The “Mother” of Artificial Intelligence

From our archives: Mathematician Luigia Carlucci Aiello at RomeCup

We turn to robotics and artificial intelligence once again, with a historic photo from our archives. In 2018, the “mother” of artificial intelligence, Mathematician Luigia Carlucci Aiello visited the RomeCup competitions at  the Campidoglio. In the photo, FMD Director General Mirta Michilli is with Daniele Nardi, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Sapienza University of Rome.

The founder and first president of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (1988), today, this professor emeritus is 76 years old and continues to speak at public events to explain why all areas of life need a bit of intelligence, either human or artificial. Last Sunday, she spoke at the Rome Là fuori Festival, in the session dedicated to “Where AI ends and human creativity begins.”
