Digital facilitation month at the Villa Lais headquarters in the Tuscolano district
‘We are considering how to make the digital facilitation service permanent,’ commented the Councillor for the Suburbs of Rome, Giuseppe Battaglia, who yesterday visited the Villa Lais headquarters of Municipality VII, together with President Francesco Laddaga. We are almost at the end of November, which has been dedicated to facilitation. The initiative has been appreciated by citizens and administrative staff, who have seen a reduction in waiting times and a general easing of the workload.
The Councillor is currently testing the professionalism of our facilitators first-hand, with many successful outcomes: some people are able to renew their expired documents, others are becoming familiar with online services thanks to the CIE, in a virtuous circle that sees us working at full speed with the registry office staff. “Often, as soon as they obtain their electronic identity card, thanks to the PIN and PUK we provide, people go directly to the facilitators to activate it and thus obtain the authentication necessary to request certificates,” an employee of the VII told us. “Citizens who do not know how to request documents from the Roma Capitale portal, instead of going to the counters and prolonging the process, learn how to request them digitally alongside the facilitators,” another employee told us.
‘This type of assistance is essential. Today's public administration is increasingly digitised, while the public still needs real literacy training. Not everyone has the ability to access online services,’ concluded Giuseppe Battaglia.
According to Francesco Laddaga: "Today, we have once again seen first-hand the usefulness of a facilitation centre. There has been a lot of positive feedback from citizens at the Town Hall VII offices. People are happy that someone is helping them to book an appointment for the renewal and subsequent activation of their CIE, so that they can access municipal (and other) digital services. We hope that this initiative will become stable and ongoing."
In November alone, over 3,000 people have already taken advantage of the facilitation service. Among the most requested services in recent weeks are: in addition to the activation of CIE and SPID, the application for permits for the ZTL (limited traffic zone), access to MyINPS, booking appointments for identity cards and, recently, the new procedure for parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities. Many stories and requests for help have already been received by the 24 facilitators in the field, who have very different professional profiles and an average age of 31.
‘This intense month of November has proved important both for building new relationships of trust and for supporting people's autonomy, who have found in the facilitators figures of support for a concrete strengthening of digital skills in everyday life,’ commented Mirta Michilli, general manager of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale ETS.
The initiative is part of the Digital Facilitation Centres of Rome Capital project promoted by the Strategic Planning and PNRR Department. The Digital Facilitation Centres were created with the aim of increasing citizens' digital skills to encourage the autonomous, informed and responsible use of new technologies, promote the full enjoyment of active digital citizenship rights and encourage the use of online services, simplifying the relationship between citizens and public administration. The “Digital Facilitation Services Network” project is part of national measure 1.7.2 of the PNRR implemented through the Lazio Region.
In the fourth week of Digital Facilitation Month, from 24 to 28 November, the following centres are active in the municipalities:

The digital facilitators, coordinated by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, are present from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in five municipalities per week.
