Mobility in Europe

"The EUReKA Consortium, which is financed by the European Union (GA826666) and coordinated by the Centro Studi e Ricerche IDOS, interviewed its stakeholders from various European countries - via a questionnaire and then through custom-tailored focus groups – on the nature and cause of the difficulties encountered by EU citizens on mobility. A common factor clearly emerged: surprisingly, it’s not so much an issue about legislative or procedural issues, as much as a problem related to the access to essential information on citizens’ rights and the procedures to follow.”

On “Agenda Digitale,” Antonio Ricci, a researcher at the Centro studi e ricerche Idos, describes the tools developed by the EUReKa Consortium.

“The interested parties suggested a range of recommendations that naturally led to the use of digital platforms. In fact, stakeholders called for greater interactivity, information visibility, and universal and custom-tailored access to allow users to pragmatically select useful, reliable and up-to-date information, as well as evaluate its quality. Moreover, the information should be available even in the languages of newcomers, as there is no obligation for EU citizens residing abroad to learn the language of the state in which they live.”

Digital Citizenship is Key to EU Mobility: Tools for Orientation

Free circulation within the EU is not always a simple process and issues are not so much related to legislative or procedural issues, as much as a problem related to the access to essential information on citizens’ rights and the procedures to follow.
