The challenge of digital inclusion and exponential technology.
In the fifth episode of “Effetto Prisma,” dedicated to the adjective digital, Michela Stentella and Andrea Baldassarre interviewed Ettore Sala, Department Head at the Ministry of Justice, Luca Gastaldi, Director of the Digital Agenda Observatory at the Milan Polytechnic, and Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
Often, when we speak about public administration, we think of a gray, boring reality, but Pas can be colourful, too, as revealed by various episodes of the "Effetto Prisma" video podcast for Forum PA 2024 (May 21-23, Palazzo dei Congressi, Rome): seven episodes for seven adjectives.
There still are challenges related to the inclusion of citizens: only 46% of Italians aged 16-74 have basic digital skills against a European average of 56% (ISTAT data, December 2023). In Italy, only 30% of citizens use government services, according to ISTAT. Mirta Michilli believes that we should not only point on digital literacy, but also on functional education to promote lifelong learning and the use of technology to improve quality of life.
At RomeCup, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale presented the “Manifesto for Collective Action on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics,” an invitation to all of those working with technology and digital skills to work collectively in the long-term to avoid that these gaps grow any wider, also with the introduction of artificial intelligence.
