At the Maker Faire 2014 (October 3-5), the Phyrtual Innovation Gym Fab Lab, the Sartoria Borghetti and students from the “Fashion and Design” Course at the Istruzione secondaria superiore A. Diaz in Rome, in collaboration with Cna, will present their new Phyrtual fashion line: clothes that mould traditional tailoring, youthful ideas and maker technological innovation.

The first prototype was developed in the Fab Lab using high-tech tools, such as laser cutters, and innovative materials, such as Plexiglas and laser-cut wood. The blue and white led lights have been soldered on to the dress and the fibre optic, also laser-created, creates an interesting lighting effect.

At the Maker Faire, a model will fashion this new line of “intelligent” clothes that bring together quality tailoring and high technology. Moreover, the led lights will pulse to the beat of the music thanks to an Arduino chipset sewn into the outfit.

The Sartoria Borghetti’s new fashion line will also make use of the innovations devised in the Fab Lab, including laser-cut and etched wooden buttons that make each dress unique!
