“We are proud to collaborate with the City of Venice and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale on Project ‘Made On-life in Venice,’ developed during this difficult moment to drive the economic recovery of small enterprise in Venice,” explains Luca Colombo, Country Director, Facebook Italia. “Facebook has always been committed to promoting Italian SMEs, the backbone of the national economy and the pulsing heart of our platform. We are certain that training and support for digitalisation, which are an integral part of this project, are the best way to do this.”

The project is based on:

  • Video lessons and on-demand resources that are accessible to all local economic actors to learn more about tools and techniques for digital communication: from the use of social networks to promote products to digital merchandising through fab labs;
  • Basic and intermediate level interactive webinars for those already familiar with web tools;
  • Selection of three companies for the development of case studies together with young students.

“Tradition and innovation have always played a fundamental role for Venice,” comments Mayor Luigi Brugnaro. “Thanks to this project, the city proves that it once again is a locus of experimentation and progress. Since the age of the Serenissima, Venetians have used creativity and science to drive the growth of the city. Today, it is with that same spirit that we welcome this project, developed in collaboration with Facebook Italia and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, that will provide our enterprises with new communication tools. Notwithstanding the difficult moment that we are continuing to experience, we are look at the future and working to support commerce with all the tools provided by technology. This is a concrete commitment that is even more meaningful this year as the city will be celebrating its 1600th anniversary. Venice confirms its role as the most ancient city of the future!”

The project will be presented today (Thursday, March 18) at 11:00 am with an on-line press conference.
