Living through Covid

Yesterday, a web press conference presented the 5th National Haematology Conference “Living through Covid-19: Patients Affected by Blood Tumours at High Risk” (Nov. 9-10), promoted by the Italian Association against Leukemia, Lymphoma and Mieloma (AIL), one of the partners of Project Factor J promoted with Janssen Italia.

What’s the risk for patients with haematological neoplasias? Why are they considered at high risk during the pandemic? What makes blood diseases so insidious?

We focus on these aspects with Professor Giuseppe Avvisati, Professor of Blood Diseases at the Rome Campus Bio-Medico University, Director of the Haematology and Stem Cell Transplants Unit and Director of the Haematology Specialisation School at the University General Hospital.

This is the third appointment for "I’ll Take Care of You" the “Stories from the Doctors at the Rome Campus Bio-Medico University,” a scientific partner of Project Factor J.

Prof. Avvisati’s contribution is divided into three video lessons: two are dedicated to blood diseases, while the third addresses communication between doctors and patients.

Factor J, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale with Janssen Italia, is the first Italian school curriculum for educating students to develop emotional intelligence, respect and empathy towards individuals suffering from unease of disease. This is an important social operation to stimulate a change in mentality and culture in the new generations.
