Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 5, at 10 am, Project Factor J will hold a regional live event dedicated to pulmonary hypertension, a rare blood vessels disease that affects the lungs. It affects about 60 individuals every million, without distinction of age; however, women are affected nearly twice as much as men. In Italy, there are about 3000 people affected by the disease, and they may endure symptoms such as tiredness, fatigue, fainting for up to two years before actually managing to diagnose it.
What is the therapy and cure for a rare disease? Why do diagnoses take so long? What are the main symptoms to look out for? The meeting will allow students and professors to learn more from doctors, operators, educators and witnesses from the Italian Association for Pulmonary Hypertension (AIPI).
Factor J, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale with Janssen Italia, the pharmaceutical branch of the Johnson & Johnson Group, educates young men and women to develop their emotional intelligence, respect “uniqueness” and “diversity” and consider illness as an element of life. The initiative will organise six regional events dedicated to different therapeutic areas. The event in Emilia Romagna, which focuses on pulmonary hypertension, concludes the educational tour.
