The Lead School

Last Friday, May 8, the Rome Archimede-Pacinotti School inaugurated its Phyrtual Innovation Gym as lead partner of the National Network.

The new facilities in the school are based on the Phyrtual Innovation Gym model designed by Alfonso Molina, Professor of Technology Strategy, University of Edinburgh and Scientific Director, Fondazione Mondo Digitale, which calls for the gyms to be configurable, inclusive, grassroots and adaptable to change [see the video].

Prof Maria Punturo [@MariaPunturo], coordinator of the school project, selected four environments:  Fab Lab, Robotics Centre, Coding Lab and Ideation Room. The four labs are ideally integrated with Musis, the school’s museum, to promote the bond between past and innovation.

In his address, Regione Lazio President Nicola Zingaretti focused on the new figure of the digital craftsman which has recently been formally introduced by the “Testo Unico regionale per l’Artigianato” Bill approved on February 4 by the Lazio Region Council.

“We are not here to slap people on their backs,” explained President Zingaretti, “but as there are valid experiences such as this one at the Pacinotti School, we have to also change what is outside the world of school.” And a contribution to this also comes from realities like the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, explained Zingaretti. “It’s obvious that we have to allow your creativity, passion and intelligent to find the right technological and infrastructural support. And starting next year, we will create a fund for technological innovation in school labs.”

“We have to change the outside world, creating a friendly habitat and opportunities for genius to emerge and become a future of serenity and growth,” concluded President Zingaretti.
