For the transition from the European Year of Citizens (2013) to the European Year for Reconciling Family and Work (2014), the Fondazione Mondo Digitale promotes the Knowledge Volunteers 3.0 Competition (third edition) as part of the greater Project for 21st Century Volunteering with the patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Ministry for International Cooperation and Integration.

The objective of the competition is to promote the educational role of schools for active citizenship amongst the new generations and the development of life skills. The initiative will also create a network of Knowledge Volunteers that will share experiences and skills to accelerate the development of an inclusive knowledge society.

The course also aims to:
·         exploit the value of young school tutors to promote digital literacy, intergenerational solidarity and fight social exclusion and gaps;
·         promote active ageing and peer digital volunteering amongst elders.

The competition extends and reformulates, both nationally and internationally, the first network of knowledge volunteers created in the city of Rome and subsequently extended to other Italian regions and various European countries. The network is open to all individuals involved in digital tutoring in schools or elderly centres.

Candidatures must be sent to premiovolontari@mondodigitale.org by 15 April 2014.
