International Day of the Girl Child

The homepage of the school website describes the day at the American Embassy in Rome for the presentation of the sixth edition of Coding Girls [see article (in Italian): La Loi all'Ambasciata Americana con il Coding Girls]. The young women studying at the Emanuela Loi School in Nettuno will be acting as gender equality ambassadors. Today, they will host a mini-hackathon for the International Day of the Girl Child.

The United Nations has dedicated October 11 to young girls because the improvement of their life conditions involves families, communities and society as a whole. “The particular condition of young girls,” states the United Nations, “consists especially in their potential. If they are adequately supported during adolescence, they can become women, workers, mothers, entrepreneurs and independent political leaders.”

The mini coding marathon organised by the Emanuela Loi school in Nettuno and coordinated by Prof. Elena Brachetti is dedicated to the young girls of the Circolo Didattico di Nettuno who will be participating in the European Week of Code.
