Robotics is not just about research, industry and service. It also is about passion, something that is evident in the passionate staff at the Officine Robotiche. Last year, they were at RomeCup with Lino and Rino, two thinking robots conceived as a development platform for autonomous navigation. Who knows what they will unveil this year?

Fiammetta Castagnini interviewed Martina Ottaviani, the association’s secretary and treasurer. Here is his profile from the Officine Robotiche website:

“Martina Ottaviani’s met the digital world when she was three, when on her father’s knees she began playing the first videogames on a Mac Powerbook Duo. She grew up in a house that was full of robotics and electronics symposiums at dinner. After a brief stint with cybot, she decided to study piano and singing, her true passion. However, as robotics was a “family affair,” she decided to participate in the Maker Fair 2014, where she was “adopted” by the Officine Robotiche Group. Martina, who has a degree in Communications with a thesis on “Cyber Space and Sacred Space,” decided to contribute to the Officine Robotiche 2015 and began exploring the world of event organization, in which she intends to specialize.”

The Officine Robotiche website immediately captures our attention with a post entitled “RoboCup 2015, Italia da primato: ecco perché” by President Guido Ottaviani (in the Ottaviani household robotics truly is a “family affair!”).
