Here are Rome’s Green Champions

Here are Rome’s Green Champions

Power People: the first session of the tour with Italgas was held at the University of Roma Tre, yesterday

Companies are finding it increasingly difficult to find the necessary professional profiles as the mismatch between work supply and demand widens. According to the most recent Excelsior Report, in Lazio, one of the most dynamic regions in terms of employment, this issue reaches 43%. The most requested competences concern those required to face the green and digital transition processes.

The objective of Project People Power Talent Tour, developed in collaboration with Italgas, is to introduce high school and university students, as well as graduates on STEM and economic disciplines related to sustainability and the digital transformation. The tour, after yesterday’s appointment in Rome, will head to Turin, Bologna, and Bari. In collaboration with local universities, students will be involved in inspirational talks and creative challenges that, besides challenging them in a professional context, will allow them to come into direct contact with Italgas, thanks to informal interviews with the company’s human resources team.

Local Green Champions will be selected after each challenge to compose a Decalogue of Change describing Italgas’ commitment to the digital transformation and energy transition. The first local champions are Team Off-shore with “FALO Programme” (Fostering Advanced Learning Opportunities). The team is composed by Sophia Rondinelli (22, Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor’s programme), Nicole Verde (22 Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor’s programme), Andrea Liviero (21, Computer Engineering, Bachelor’s programme), Alberto Mori (25, Environmental and Development Economics, Masters’ Programme)), Angelo Zelli (21 Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor’s programme). The students participated in a creative contest with 40 other students in the aula magna of the Department of Industrial, Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Roma Tre

The session began with a welcome by the University of Roma Tre. Speakers included the Director of the Department of Industrial, Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering, Salvatore Andrea Sciuto, Associate Professor Fulvio Palmieri, and Claudio Magni, Head of Development at Italgas.

Vincenzo Caserta, Security Governance at Italgas, presented the company’s development strategy. This was followed by a short session on how to develop an interesting presentation by Cecilia Stajano from the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

During the afternoon, the student teams and worked on their projects, which were then presented to the jury composed of Italgas managers and Roma Tre University professors. The challenge on “An Algorithm for Educational Wellbeing – Proposal and Methodology for Company Training for One Day, One Week, Six Months, One Year” led to the formulation of hypotheses and ideas for interesting educational projects to stimulate personal growth. The teams proposed brilliant, creative ideas, following their debate with Fondazione Mondo Digitale Coaches and Italgas employees.

The winning project – “FALO Programme” – proposed a range of tools and approaches based on the time span of the educational programme: a digital platform for daily training, with a chatbot exploiting a company data base to transfer knowledge amongst employees. For the six-month period, the idea was to train younger personnel with senior figures based on merit, while the year-long training period includes advanced training courses and specialistic degrees.  The fundamental idea is that learning leads to improved relations between colleagues, drives team building and debate, and helps keep employee spirits and motivation high.
