On Monday, May 30, a national event will mark the end of the second edition of the Project Factor J, promoted with Janssen Italia, the pharmaceutical branch of the Johnson & Johnson Group, to increase the trust of the young generations in the progress of science.
Twenty young ambassadors of trust in science, students from all over Italy, will present the first grassroots, collaboratively written Health Manifesto. The manifesto presents ten points to local and national authorities to promote and develop a future based on science that takes into account the needs of the new generations.
The Manifesto, the product of a long educational experience undertaken by the young ambassadors is the full expression of the results achieved by Factor J over the past two years thanks to the support of a wide multi-sector network: thirteen patient associations, two scientific partners – the Rome Campus Bio-Medico University and the University of Siena, and three institutional partners: the Società Italiana di Igiene Medicina preventiva e Sanità pubblica (SITI), VaccinarSì and the Società italiana di farmacologia (SIF).
During the course of the events, the final results will be presented for the survey on “Youth and Trust in Science” conducted by the Department of Political Economy and Statistics at the University of Siena. The explorative survey is based on four questionnaires with different focuses: different focuses: changes in lifestyles, trust in institutions, modifying behaviour based on opinions, cognitive biases on scientific issues. The issue-based monthly work has transformed the survey into an original tool for listening to the needs of adolescents, a generation that was hit hard by the pandemic and that has known how to maintain its trust in science and official health institutions, as well as develop a future for science.
With Project Factor J, Janssen Italia won an AboutPharma Digital Award in the “Wellness, Prevention, Engagement, and Quality of Life” Category, the top award in Italy for projects dedicated to the implementation of digital tools in healthcare [see news: An Award for Factor J].
