The Grandparents on the Internet digital literacy courses for the elderly are spreading throughout the entire Province of Como thanks to the dedication of Prof. Luca Piergiovanni, the local project coordinator, and the enthusiasm of participants, grandparents, students and teachers.
The courses are already underway in 15 schools and have recently begun at the Istituto comprensivo di Binago and Secondaria di primo grado di Valmorea. Nearly, 270 elderly attend the lessons, including a lady in her late eighties.
In an interview conducted by Alessio Neri, Luca Piergiovanni points out that many course applications are submitted by working age adults. This fact reveals how the digital divide phenomenon remains hidden and does not only concern the most disadvantaged categories.
