The first Physics School with Arduino and Smartphones kicks off today, Monday, September 12, at the Sapienza University Department of Physics. The school, which addresses all physics professors teaching in high schools, will be held at the Fondazione Mondo Digitale’s Phyrtual Innovation Gym in collaboration with the Roma TRE University.
The first day of the programme includes frontal lessons with exercises to understand Arduino programming and the use of apps to access the data provided by sensors in modern smartphones. The following three days will be dedicated to creative experimentation.
Teachers are asked to design a physics experiment that can be implemented with the new techniques they have acquired. The FMD’s Fab Lab personnel will help the teachers develop the experiments, while university professors and researchers will provide support on the sensor measurements. At the end of the school, teachers will document their work with a standard template provided by the University of Paris Sud to make it available to others and receive a certificate.
