Alfonso Molina, Professor of Technology Strategy at the University of Edinburgh and Scientific Director of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, is ready with a new challenge: create a network of Innovation Gyms!
"We have all worked together to enrich the activities at the Innovation Gym,” explains Alfonso Molina, who also emphasizes the importance of the solidarity model and help amongst peers, not only in Italy, but also beyond. Prof. Molina then pointed out how the “Good School” Report prepared by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research embraced the Innovation Gym model and even included it in a public consultation.
"We believe that with the solidarity model we can create a network of Innovation Gyms to promote innovation throughout Italy. Naturally, the gyms do not all have to be identical,” adds Prof. Molina. “Each school or university can create and configure a gym custom-tailored to their needs.”
Thus, the network takes shape on the basis of the principles: modularity, configurability and scalability.
"By the end of the year, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale will organize a major meeting in Rome with school administrators and teachers to work on the definition of a network and the guidelines necessary to implement it. We have successfully transformed a great dream into reality and I’m sure that together we will do ever better in helping people and improving our country."
In the video, shot with a smartphone, you can see the first dress of the Phyrtual Fashion Line (to the right of Alfonso Molina) that will be presented at the Rome Maker Faire. It is modelled by Alice, a student at the Diaz School in Rome. The dress was designed and tailored in the Rome Phyrtual Innovation Gym Fab Lab.
