Engineer Arturo Lazzaris, Professor of electronics and automation at Itis A. Pacinotti in Fondi lead his students to victory.

The Intel® Galileo Project provided students and teachers with the opportunity to identify new didactic and technological tools based on Arduino-compatible Intel chipsets designed for the education sector and Maker community.

Thanks to a project for the automatic control of agricultural greenhouses submitted to the “Intel® Galileo Italy School Contest 2014,” the school won five Intel® Galileo chipsets.

The project was developed by students Iacopo Fermo and Timoteo Lamkin. Iacopo (14) just finished his first year of Electronics, while Timoteo (18) just finished his fourth year and already has an advanced intermediate level of knowledge.

The project was developed to solve a real problem that a young farmer in Fondi experienced with his greenhouses. In fact, a prototype has already been developed using an Arduino chipset. The device controls the internal greenhouse climate through lateral apertures.

In the video, Prof. Arturo Lazzaris explains how the school robotics lab not only educates the students, but also prepares them for the real working world.
