This year, schools are present at the Festival of Digital Culture in Viterbo thanks to the Network of Knowledge Voluneers promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
Students from all types of schools and levels have chosen to dedicate their free time to the digital literacy of the elderly, to fight social exclusion and promote a democratic knowledge society.
The digital labs for the over-sixties begin with a workshop dedicated to the students and teachers from the Liceo Linguistico Buratti in Viterbo, chaperoned by Professors Flavia Bronchini and Riccardo Infantino (Liceo scientifico P. Ruffini). The workshop was coordinated by Cecilia Stajano and Ana Lain from the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
The volunteers are Andrea, Federica, Gioacchino, Luna, Elena and Chiara, all 15-17 years old. They already have significant experience and expect a lot from the future. Gioacchino collaborates with three theatrical companies and is preparing an Edoardo De Filippo comedy. Luna, ready for a full immersion in the world of volunteering, wants to become a surgeon and study abroad. Andrea wants to become a great chef.
The first digital pill is for Grandma Azzurra, from Albania, who is vacationing in Viterbo. Accompanied by her daughter Mirela, she has come to visit her granddaughters Martina (8) and Laura (10). Together with tutor Gioacchnio, they learned how to use Skype and videoconference with a friend in Albania.
At the end of the lesson, Grandma Azzurra hugs Gioacchino affectionately and thanked him!
