Girls’ Stories

The Coding Girls Educational Tour is in Pistoia. The programme, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the United States Embassy in Italy in collaboration with Microsoft Italy, aims to promote gender equality in science and technology. The sixth edition will be held on November 5-22 and will involve 10,000 young women in 14 Italian cities.

Here are the results of the fifth creative programming marathon held as part of the Coding Girls Educational Tour.

 

1st Place – ex aequo

 

Team Le Vere Pitagora - IIS Petrocchi

Project: The Pride of Being a Woman

Description: The project begins with a projection of images of women who have fought - and continue to do so – for equal rights, by showing the short story of a girl who grows up in a bad environment in which her mother is forced to do housework and give up her ambitions. The project continues with the girl achieving her work projects, fighting against the closed mentality of society and criticising it, using her mother and other women treated in the same manner as examples.

Project: Fairytale Love

Description: We initially turned down a series of ideas in a brainstorming session, but this gave us the inspiration for our story about a princess called Dafne who had a precious life and was in love with a handsome prince. However, there was something or better someone, the evil Morgana, who wanted to steal her prince. So, at the end of the story, the Fata Morgana achieves her objective, destroys the dream of the princess and runs away with the prince.

Project: World Blesses Greta

Description: We were inspired by the true story of Greta Thunberg and pollution. We used Scratch to develop the project. Our objective was to raise the awareness of people on Greta’s project and help the world to be reborn.

 

 

3rd Place

Sara Cardelli, Irene Cappellini, Linda Spataro, Asia Agostini, Stefano Gargini. Tutte di 15 anni

Description: a girl wants to travel abroad as she is interested in languages. She goes to college in Americ, where she meets students with whom she studies English.
