Yesterday, Thursday 13 November, saw the last meeting of the Programming with Python course, a basic training programme designed to offer professional skills in the Municipio XIV area of Rome.

The course was held at the Domizia Lucilla secondary school, an institution that has chosen to open up to the local community and enthusiastically welcome this training opportunity. Thanks to the willingness of headteacher Ada Maurizio, the school wholeheartedly hosted the activities, helping to make the training accessible and rooted in the community.

The class was led by trainer Stefano Antinori, who guided participants through a practical and engaging course, imparting the basics of the Python language with skill and passion.

The project is part of the activities of Roma Rigenera Impresa, promoted by the Department of Productive Activities, Equal Opportunities and Investment Attraction of Roma Capitale, in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, and funded by the Integrated Urban Plans (PNRR - Measure M5C2, Investment 2.2).

During the meeting, Simone Conte, councillor for the XIV Municipality, emphasised the importance of the initiative: ‘We have wholeheartedly embraced this project: training in programming is essential for reinventing oneself, acquiring new skills and keeping up with the times.’

The vice-principal of IIS Domizia Lucilla also expressed her satisfaction with the course: ‘This course is a wonderful initiative. We are happy that the school has opened up to the local community and proud to offer these people the opportunity to update their skills and work on their future.’

Among the participants, Fabio recounted his experience: ‘I enrolled to retrain and return to the world of work. The course was excellent, the environment very diverse and the trainer really knowledgeable. I am very satisfied.’

The value of this course goes beyond technical learning: it is part of a proximity training model, designed to bring knowledge and tools directly to neighbourhoods, making them accessible to all. Languages such as Python not only open up new career paths, but also help people rediscover their potential, strengthen their autonomy and build paths for growth. Investing in these skills means enhancing the talents present in the area and contributing to the development of communities that are more aware, resilient and connected to the world of work.
