Once again, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale will be present at the Maker Faire, the major event on innovation, that will be held on October 18-20 at the Rome Air. Organised by the Rome Chamber of Commerce through its special “Innova Camera” company, the Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition makes Rome the European capital of innovation. It’s an event that brings together science, science fiction, technology, fun and business, giving life to something completely new.
The Fondazione Mondo Digitale will be present with 5 projects and programmes in Pavilions 7 and 9. The stands have been created by Matteo Viscogliosi, maker, designer, and coordinator of hte Digital Manufacturing Lab at the Rome Phyrtual Innovation Gym.

Geometric shapes are adapted to our bodies thanks to incisions created with a laser cutter. Prestigious textiles are integrated with sensors that allow the clothing to become digital objects with microchips and memory cards. A stand dedicated to sustainable and “intelligent” fashion projects to launch the second edition of “Digital Made. For Young Fashion Talents,” the international competition promoted by FMD to select innovative projects by young talents in the field of wearable technology for the Altaroma 2020 “Fashion Digital Night”.
There will be dresses made by international designers and makers, including projects conceived in collaboration with the FabLab Frosinone and the Fashion Design Course held at the “Accademia di Belle Arti” in Naples by Prof. Mariangela Salvati:

HOLOMAKERS

European Project HoloMakers, implemented as part of the Erasmus+ Programme, aims to interest students in STEAM subjects through the use of new didactic methodologies for scientific subjects, such as, for example, the creation of holograms and virtual images.
Artist Lino Strangis and Maker Daniele Vigo have worked on developing a “sculpture of holograms” with students in three schools: LS Volterra in Ciampino, LS Touschek in Grottaferrata and I.I.S.P. Rosario Livatino in Palestrina. FMD will present project results and the artistic installation: a tree built on a led base that symbolizes the development of knowledge. The branches hold the faces of students scanned in 3D, printed and transformed into holograms.

Kit:Cut is an ambitious research project by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale dedicated to the world of education to increase creativity, digital and manual skills and project competences that are fundamental to learning. The idea is to propose ad hoc models that the coach can enrich through the sharing knowledge economy: from files for custom-tailoring multidisciplinary didactic tools to files for functional and intelligent furnishings. All the modules are open code and can be custom-tailored. Download the project, develop the tools, share the experience and create new shared courses.

MUSICFABLAB

From custom-tailoring electro-acoustic instruments to experimenting with modified audio-video devices for digital manufacturing. MusicFabLab is a lab conceived by Enzo Cimino at the FMD Innovation Gym Fab Lab. The lab is dedicated to anyone who is interested in music and maker culture. The “Biodata System” installation will be on exhibit: the interaction of the human body with a plant causes electrical-energetic fluctuations that are picked up by an electricity sensor based on Arduino and transformed into signals for a MIDI. The plant’s sounds will thus arise from the interaction caused by the movements of visitors, the installation’s true energy.

ROAD TO ROMECUP 2020

Strikers and goalies, emergency rescuers … They are all robots. They move independently. And they are often entirely home-made. Lazio teams will demo “Soccer” and “Rescue Line” Categories from RomeCup 2019 the Fondazione Mondo Digitale event on Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Life Science. There will also be demos with collaborative, agricultural and service robots developed by students with Italian universities. The Maker Faire will serve as the opportunity to launch the fourteenth edition of RomeCup that will be held on April 21-24, 2020 at Sapienza University of Rome and at the Rome Campidoglio.
