The educational tour of Coding Girls, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the American Embassy in Italy in collaboration with Microsoft, kicked off on Monday, November 14 at at IIS Falcone-Righi in Corsico.
During the afternoon, a coding session will be held at the Liceo Gandini-Verri in Lodi [see news Women’s Courage]. Yesterday, the tour stopped in two schools in Milan: IIS Bertarelli–Ferraris and the Liceo Marconi.
Today, Wednesday, November 16, the final hackathon will be held in Corsico (9 am – 6 pm) with 150 young women from the Milan area [see news Coding Girls on Tour].
After the welcome by Headmaster Maria Vittoria Amantea, the first challenge was opened by Councillor Roberta Cocco (Digital Transformation and Civic Service, Milan), Mirta Michilli (Director General, Fondazione Mondo Digitale) and Ambassador Philip T. Reeker, Consul General for the United States in Milan.
Tomorrow, the educational marathon will move to Naples and then on November 21 to Rome.

Competing teams meet briefly with the Consul and Councillor. Activities will be supervised by Computer Science Professor Paola Pupilli.
The team of digital coaches headed by Emily Thomforde includes senior coaches from the Phyrtual Innovation Gym (Manuela Benedetti, Lara Forgione, Giorgia Di Tommaso, Cecilia Lalatta Costerbosa and Valentina Gelsomini) and 12 student from Milan who attended the first Coding Summer School for young women.
