From Factory to School

Second appointment in Perugia today at the Istituto Superiore Giordano Bruno for Project Do It Ourselves – Manual, Digital and Functional Literacy for Active Ageing with forty high school students in years 3-5 and 25 over-60s on digital literacy courses, coordinated by Prof. Daniela Papi Papini. Both the over-60s and the students are particularly curious about this digital manufacturing course at the Aba FabLab. And the young women studying fashion are especially excited, as they already experienced digital creation.

As usual, the over-60s have different levels of knowledge. Mrs. Rosa and her husband have never used a computer before. Last week, Rosa opened an e-mail account, while her husband learned to use a mouse and surf the web. Claudia, who was already familiar with the school as it used to be the shoe factory where she started working at age 14, impressed all the young women by expressing her love of Instagram.
