Even Women Win

The sixth edition of the National Coding Girls Tour ended on Friday with the hackathon in Rome. The educational relay reached 14 cities, selecting the most original and innovative projects developed by young women during the coding marathons organized by two American super coaches: Anthonette Peña, National Board Certified Teacher and STEM Teacher Lead, e Emily Bradford, independent writer and software developer based in Silicon Valley. The Catania hackathon, cancelled due to a weather alert, still needs to be rescheduled.

Here are the news addressing the most significant projects selected by the jury city by city.

The Coding Girls Programme, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the United States Embassy in Italy in collaboration with Microsoft Italy, aims to promote gender equality in science and technology. The sixth edition will be held on November 5-22 and will involve 10,000 young women in 14 Italian cities.

The initiative was supported by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, Roma Capitale, the Department of Computer Science at Sapienza University and Microsoft. The project has expanded over the various editions, becoming a year-ling programme and giving rise to an association.
